While at Seneca, Maurey won both the Susan Anton Clark Memorial Award and the Michael Monty Memorial Award for achievement in storytelling. Maurey's thesis film, 'Malcontents' won best screenplay, best picture, best sound and his lead actor, Jeff Franco won the best actor award. In addition to directing, Maurey has been 1st Assistant Director on many projects, including sixteen Canadian Film Centre projects and two independent feature films.

In 2007, Maurey founded Choroid Films, which focuses on telling engaging, enlightening and, above all, entertaining stories. That same year, Choroid Films hosted the very first environmentally themed Ecollywood Party at the Toronto International Film Festival and Maurey was selected as one of Reelworld's Film Festival's "Emerging 20".
Maurey, in writing as in life, has always been attracted to fringe characters and their unique perspective on life.

Maurey is currently developing two movies:
'Jaxon', a 'Little Big Man' meets 'Forrest Gump' meets 'Big Fish' true movie event / mini series about his great-great uncle who was Louis Riel's secretary before becoming a footnote to major events of 19th Century American History.

'Fortunes Fall', a feature film about the hardships faced by two angels on the streets of Toronto.

Maurey is also developing two series:
'Pooka'
this peculiar series is based on a short film script that is endorsed by Kids Help Phone. 'Pooka' is an inventive mash-up of live action and animation aimed at the 13-25 demographic with great multimedia potential.

'Moss Park'
the Toronto park where the homeless mingle with the military on a daily basis provides the backdrop for this conspiracy theory procedural series
